Matthew’s Gospel focuses on the humanity of Christ so He is depicted as the Son of Man. The genealogy of Christ is listed at the beginning and it demonstrates status as royalty and His right to inherit the throne. (See Matthew 1:1-16) Additionally, some refer to the face of a man as that of an angel, which represents divine love that was sent by the special messengers of Christ to humanity.
